THIS ISN'T A CONCEPT.
THIS IS OUR LIFE.
Fourteen years of experiments, mistakes, animals, forests, water, children, music and people trying to live differently.
BIOPOLIS is a living experiment in how people, nature, science, culture and local life can develop together.
For more than fourteen years we have been developing the concept of a Biosphere Settlement — a place where human settlement is conceived as part of a living landscape, with nature conservation, education, research, culture and a local economy developing together.
“The territory is not a backdrop. It is part of the project.”
The BIOPOLIS landscape is assembled from territories with different legal origins: approximately 500 ha designated for creation of a nature-protection object including forest, 100 ha of agricultural land under lease, and 100 ha owned by the Buddaba religious community, where a monastery and ashram are planned.
Six people currently live and work here — combining land management, animal husbandry, botany, education, research, crafts and creative work.
Goats, horses and pigs already live on the territory. The broader programme includes restoration of local breeds and new educational animal programmes.
Forest, mountain meadows, rivers, lakes and springs are not decoration. They are the infrastructure of the experiment.
Spring floods and the lack of drinking water in villages are approached as connected water-management problems. The programme is designed as a measurable natural experiment: retain water in the landscape, observe the effects, and establish which interventions can be replicated.
Three lakes were created last year with the project's own resources and effort.
Water retention, groundwater levels, seasonal dynamics, erosion and biodiversity.
Potential micro-hydropower sites for BIOPOLIS and, subject to feasibility, nearby communities.
Final hydrological effects must be demonstrated by measurement and independent scientific verification before being presented as proven outcomes.

IN DEVELOPMENT
Preserving local livestock and developing a viable mountain economy.

IMPLEMENTED
An introduction experiment already carried out in the Carpathians.
SUPPORT PAULOWNIA →
PROPOSED
A proposed 3-female / 2-male starter herd for wool, education and visitor interaction.
SUPPORT ALPACAS →A nature-based recovery and educational environment where children can reconnect with nature, animals, community and themselves.
Children currently stay in locally produced tipis; guests use tents. There is no capital construction on the territory. Future accommodation is based on demountable, lightweight structures produced by the team.
Explore BIOSVIT →CIPREC is the educational and research organisation within the ecosystem. Its statute provides for educational, research and scientific activity, allowing it to act as a scientific agent across BIOPOLIS programmes.

WATCH THE CHANNEL →“Total Downshifting or Full Upgrade” has been published in Russian and Ukrainian. A second edition is being developed, alongside an English-language direction. The book is presented as the first book of the 21st century published on hemp paper.
“Bridge — Chronicles of the Apocalypse” is in progress. “The Secret Chest / Brotherhood Bravery” is an adventure novel for young readers in progress.
Scientists, philosophers, conservationists, creators and people who refuse easy answers — discussing how humanity might rebuild its relationship with the living planet.
Future cooperation can connect conservation, science, water management, wildlife corridors, children’s nature education and local communities across the Carpathian region.
BIOPOLIS did not grow according to a corporate plan.
One project created the need for another.
Water led to science.
Science led to education.
Children led to BIOSVIT.
The land created products.
Culture created MOLFAR CLUB.
Ideas became books.
And a local experiment began connecting to the world.
EVERYTHING CONNECTS.

I AM A...
Select a role to see relevant projects.
IT IS A PLACE WHERE PROJECTS BECOME PART OF EACH OTHER.
And it is still growing.
We are looking for partners who can contribute science, conservation expertise, children’s programmes, media, networks, knowledge and funding.
What began as an idea became a community, a territory and a long-term experiment. BIOPOLIS connects people and nature, science and tradition, children and landscape, culture and conservation.
And this is why BIOSVIT belongs here. The protection of nature and the future of children are not two separate projects.
We are experimenting with a way to live in it.
